Making ideas come true – invention and development of tank welding technology
At the beginning of the seventies, Xaver Lipp developed machines through which containers can be produced on site using a special folding technique.
The inventor was granted several patents and numerous awards for his so-called ‘double fold technology’.
Since then, Xaver Lipp’s partners have been producing silos and tanks for the storage of a wide variety of bulk materials and liquids under licence worldwide.
Since his inventive ‘lightning idea’ in 2011, the inventor has taken up the challenge of creating welded containers using spiral construction techniques. This would allow larger tank volumes to be offered and liquids such as drinking water, juices, ethanol or oil could be stored.
Since then, Xaver Lipp has created a unique and at the same time ingeniously simple principle of tank production in several technical steps.
In an automated process, a steel coil runs into the special machine and is first pre-formed in order to be welded in the next step. The resulting tank rotates spirally out of the machine during assembly and simultaneously forms an absolutely tight and very stable welded vessel. Containers from 100 to 10.000m³ can be realized on site. Tailored to the application, various patented welding processes of this new technology are available.
For his inventions in the field of container welding technology, Xaver Lipp has granted several patents in 2017.
